IN CAR COMMENTARY

Each vehicle is equipped with in-car commentary in English, French, German, Italian and Korean.  You’ll be instructed on how to drive a 4WD, what to do in case of difficulty, all about Fraser Island’s colourful history, what to do on the island and how to get there.

DRIVERS

All drivers must be a minimum age of 21 years old & must hold a valid driver’s licence, which must be presented for inspection when completing the contract of hire. All drivers must watch an instructional video briefing before they are allowed to drive.

DRIVING IN THE GREAT SANDY NATIONAL PARK

The DERM website is a great resource for those wanting information on current conditions in the national park, permits and tips on how to four wheel drive.The team at Aussie Trax can help with itineraries to suit the tides and conditions.

FUEL

The cars are taken out full and returned full, there is no extra charge for kilometres. Should the car require refuelling Aussie Trax will charge $2.00 per litre to refuel the vehicle at the hirers' cost.

VEHICLE PERMIT

A vehicle permit to drive on Fraser Island is required by Queensland National Parks and Wildlife Service. This permit is normally purchased at the time of hire (from the resort reception) and is not included in the rates.  This is a National Park fee.
