KINGFISHER BAY RESORT: Our couples choose Fraser Island as their wedding destination for a variety of reasons. For some it's where they met, became engaged or holidayed as kids. Some are after a destination celebration that they can share with their loved ones long after the ceremony is over. And for others, like Monique and Tim, they have an intrinsically personal connection to the place.

It's pretty safe to say that Monique Currenti was not your average Fraser Island bride, who holidayed on island once every few years and always dreamed of getting married here. Monique's Dad, Joe Currenti has worked with the Kingfisher Bay Resort team for more than 20 years and is one of our longest serving employees. Joe (or 'Dingo Joe' as he is known around the tourism traps) started out as Reservations Manager, based in Hervey Bay, and then moved into the Brisbane Sales team and works to promote and sell the island to the UK, Europe, Korean, Indian and Scandanavian markets as well as domestically.

Monique and her two sisters grew up in and around Kingfisher Bay Resort (see the pic below taken circa 1998 - that's Mon on the far right) and share their father's passion for the world's biggest sand island.. so the decision to marry on island was the absolute natural choice - as was the decision to pick her sisters as bridesmaids.

Monique and her beau, Tim, tied the knot at the resort's northern outlook, under a rustic wooden arch, with views across the sparkling Great Sandy Strait. Wedding pics were snapped during the golden hour in a copper-coloured autumnal wallum; with the Great Sandy Marine park as a backdrop; and in secluded bushland pockets within the resort's grounds. The celebrations kicked on in the resort's ballroom during the reception.

Congratulations again Mr and Mrs Westera... it looks like our little gal's all grown up!
