K’gari Discovery Centre

New Environmental Hub...

Welcome to Fraser Island's NEW environmental hub... the K'gari World Heritage Discovery Centre!

We're excited to finally share this project with you - a visual space where visitors can learn, appreciate and form a greater understanding for the natural wonder that is Fraser Island!

The Discovery Centre features a series of informative panels and striking photographs that give an insight into the unique and complex ecology of the world's largest sand island. It is these natural values that led to the island's World Heritage listing back in 1992.

Visitors can learn about the vegetation, such as rainforests growing from sand and pristine freshwater lakes, paired with the unique wildlife that inhabit this diverse landscape.

All information within the centre has been compiled by our friends and long-time collaborators at the University of the Sunshine Coast - Fact: many of our Resort Rangers are USC graduates!

The Discovery Centre is phase one of a joint initiative of SeaLink Fraser Island and the University of the Sunshine Coast, together with support from the Butchulla Aboriginal Corporation and the Fraser Coast Council.

Future additions to the centre will include a range of interactive and immersive digital displays.

Free for all visitors, the K'gari World Heritage Discovery Centre is open daily, and is located within Kingfisher Bay Resort (Adjacent to the Village Store Complex).

Open: Daily - FREE to all visitors

Where: Kingfisher Bay Resort (Adjacent to the Village Store Complex)
