Q: I’m concerned about booking ahead for future travel – what are my options?
A: Our 'Book Now, Pay Later' rate allows for free cancellations or amendments up to 15 days prior to arrival.

Q: What accommodation options or deals are available for families?
A: Kingfisher Bay Resort offers a range of family-friendly accommodation and tour options. From interconnecting hotel rooms and spacious 2- and 3-bedroom villas to a selection of holiday houses, there’s something to suit groups of all sizes, from couples to parties of up to 16 guests. Q: How do I get to Kingfisher Bay Resort?
A: Kingfisher Bay Resort can be easily accessed by walk-on or vehicle ferry transfers departing from River Heads four time per day. You can also get to the resort via the inland 4WD tracks if travelling on the Inskip Point 4WD barge service.

If travelling via River Heads, we recommend checking into the Mainland Reception to ensure a smooth and efficient check in experience at the resort.

Q: I will be staying in Hervey Bay prior to coming to Kingfisher Bay Resort – do you provide a pickup service?
A: Yes, we can certainly collect you from commercial accommodation in Hervey Bay. Please contact our Reservations Team on 1800 372 737 for pricing and arrangements.

Q: I will be flying into Hervey Bay Airport – do you provide airport transfers?
A: Yes, we can certainly arrange both one-way and return airport transfers. Please contact our Reservations Team on 1800 372 737 for pricing and arrangements.

Q: I will be flying into Brisbane – what are my options for travelling to River Heads?
A: For guests flying into Brisbane, airport transfers and shuttle services from Brisbane and Sunshine Coast Airports can be pre-booked directly with the following operators:

Q: I will be travelling via Queensland Rail – what are my options of travel to River Heads?
A: A pre-booked transfer can be arranged with our Reservations team on 1800 372 737, to the Kingfisher Bay Mainland Reception, to coincide with your arrival at Maryborough West Train Station. Please ensure this is booked at least 7 days in advance.

Q: Do you need a 4WD to explore K'gari (Fraser Island)?
A: You don't need to bring your own vehicle, as we offer guided 4WD tours that depart the resort daily, exploring the island's most iconic sights.

Full day 4WD hire can also be organised through our Reservations Team on 1800 372 737. Booking in advance is highly recommended.

Q: I am not taking my vehicle on the island, is car parking available on the mainland?
A: We have a secure car park available at our Mainland Reception in River Heads. There is a cost for this service and pre-booking is recommended.

Q: I am bringing my 4WD to the resort is parking available?
A: Parking is available throughout the resort's grounds and is free of charge.

Q: How long does the ferry take to get to the island?
A: Approximately 45 minutes from River Heads (Hervey Bay) to Kingfisher Bay Resort. Click here to find out more information, and to view our ferry schedule.

Q: Can you add a vehicle ferry to a deal that includes passenger ferry?
A: Yes, there is an option to add a vehicle ferry to your booking during the online checkout process (standard vehicle charges apply).

If you are driving beyond the resort boundary, you will also need to register for a National Park Driving Permit, which can be acquired from the Queensland Parks and Wildlife website.

Q: Is there a shuttle that takes people to the resort, from the ferry?
A: Yes, we have a resort shuttle which transports guests to Reception. Alternately, it’s just a short, five-minute walk, should guests choose to make their own way there. While you check in, our porters will deliver your luggage to your room.

Q: What dining outlets are open?
A: We have three restaurant and four bars at Kingfisher Bay Resort, each with their own theme, menu and operating hours. For more information, please visit our dedicated 'Wine & Dine' page.

    Q: Is the resort wheelchair accessible?
    A: Yes, resort hotel rooms, our resort facilities, and the ferry service from River Heads are wheelchair accessible. To ensure your experience on K'gari is the best it can be, we highly recommend speaking to our Reservations Team on 1800 372 737 prior to booking.

    Q: What is there to do at the resort?
    A: There are many offerings at the resort including self-guided walking trails, four lagoon-style swimming pools, tennis courts, ranger-guided activities, Junior Eco Rangers Program for kids, Island Day Spa, Peter Meyer Photography Gallery, K’gari Discovery Centre, Restaurants, Bars, tours, cruises and more.

    Q: How often does Junior Eco Rangers Program Run?
    A: Led by a friendly Kingfisher Bay Resort Ranger, our Junior Eco Rangers Program is suitable for children aged 5-12 and runs every Saturday, with increased schedules across school holiday periods.

    Q: Where can I swim at the resort?
    A: Kingfisher Bay Resort offers four lagoon-style swimming pools for guests. Also, as the resort is situated on the calm western side of the island, swimming is permitted in the bay at the front of the resort. Swimming is not recommended on the eastern side of the island along 75 Mile Beach.

    Q: Are the pools heated?
    A: Our pools are not heated, however do receive warmth from the sun.

    Q: Does the resort provide pool towels?
    A: Yes, pool towels can be collected from Reception.

    Q: Does the resort have a gym?
    A: No, the resort does not have a gym, however, there are wonderful self-guided walking trails and sports equipment for hire to keep you active.

    Q: Does the resort have Wi-Fi?
    A: Yes. Simply connect to the Wi-Fi Network – Guest Net and follow the prompts to the “try it for free” option. This service is available in hotel rooms and throughout the centre complex. Please note there is no Wi-Fi in villas or houses.

    Q: Are guests permitted to smoke on the premises?
    A: Smoking is not permitted inside accommodation or on your balcony. Should you wish to smoke, please see a member of staff to be pointed in the direction of the closest smoking area and please dispose of your cigarette butts thoughtfully. Please note that a fee will apply should you smoke in your room.

    Q: Do I need to pre-book activities, tours & cruises?
    A: Yes, pre-booking is required. Most activities do not need pre-payment and can be charged back to your room account and settled at the property.

    Q: Do I need certain clothing to participate in activities?
    A: Enclosed footwear is necessary for Junior Eco Rangers, Segway Adventure, and Archery, and is recommended for most Ranger-Guided Activities.

    Q: Do I need to be cautious about dingoes and other wildlife?
    A. Kingfisher Bay Resort is located within the safety of a dingo fence. While out on the island, please remember that K'gari (Fraser Island) is a National Park and is home to a diverse range of wildlife and marine life. We recommend being 'Dingo Safe' at all times, and exercising caution when exploring all parts of the island.

    Q: How can I view activity details and times?
    A: We release a weekly 'What’s On Guide' that will give you the most accurate information. Should you wish to know approximate schedules in advance please contact our Reservations Team on 1800 372 737.

    Q: What time is check in and checkout?
    A: Check in is from 02:00pm, and checkout is at 10:00am.

    Q: Is the accommodation air-conditioned?
    A: Hotel rooms are fully air-conditioned and our villas range from fully air-conditioned to partially air-conditioned. More information about our villas is available here or you can enquire with our Reservations Team.

    Q: Are hotel rooms serviced throughout stay?
    A: Guests staying in hotel rooms have the option to have their room serviced. Find out more about how we prioritise the environment when it comes to room servicing.

    Q: Are villas serviced throughout stay?
    A: No, villas are not serviced during a stay. Villas are privately owned, self-contained accommodation options. As such, guests are required to bring all their own amenities including food, oil, seasonings, toilet paper etc. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, linen and bath towels are provided.

    Q: How do I settle my account upon departure?
    A: Your final invoice will be on your doorstep when you wake up on day of departure. To finalise payment, simply sign the bottom of the invoice and place it in the Express Check Out box in reception. Please note that a 1.15% credit card surcharge applies to Visa and MasterCard and a 2% surcharge applies to American Express transactions. We will send your receipt to the email address we have on file.

    Q: Do rooms have a safe?
    A: Yes, hotel rooms have a safe.

    Q: What are the accommodation options when travelling with kids?
    A: Kingfisher Bay Resort has a range of accommodation options, including family resort hotel rooms and 2 and 3-bedroom villas.

    Cots can be supplied for $15 per night (limited availability), or families can bring their own portable cot.

    Q: Are infants free?
    A: Yes, infants 0-3 are free, regardless of the room rate or package you’ve booked.

    This applies for touring as well, however guests will need to bring forward-facing child seat as per QLD road rules.
