FRASER COAST, QUEENSLAND: Kingfisher Bay Resort has partnered with Tourism and Events Queensland and local operators including the Australian Offroad Academy, Hervey Bay Whale Watch, AquaVue Café and Air Fraser to show nine intrepid maids of the media how to find their 4WDing moxy on Fraser Island.

In a real coup for the Fraser Coast, nine ladies – representing print, online and broadcast mediums across the country - will learn how to separate their differentials from their Diesel jeans with a 4WD training course courtesy the Australian Offroad Academy on Kingfisher Bay's training track this weekend.

Then, their new found skills will be put into action with a trip to Lake McKenzie and Eli Creek on respective days for an afternoon swim.

Tourism and Events Queensland Chief Executive Officer, Leanne Coddington, said the visit represented a great opportunity to showcase Fraser Island to potential Australian travellers.

"They will spend time doing activities like four-wheel driving, jet skiing and canoeing - some of the best ways to experience the diversity and natural beauty of the island," Ms Coddington said.

"The Fraser Coast welcomed any increasing number of holidaymakers to the region in 2014, up 28 per cent to 300,000 and activities such as this will continue to build on that momentum

But it's not all hard-core adventure. As much as this weekend is about revving engines, it's also about discovering the island with a sunset boat cruise on the Great Sandy Strait and a jetski adventure along the island's west coast.

Kingfisher Bay Group Media Manager said the resort was delighted with the response and the calibre of media in attendance.

"The famil invitation was so popular that we had extended the famil across two dates with the next Moxy media famil Running from 15-17 May 2015, she said. "Next time around, we'll have an international motoring editor joining some of the country's top publications - it all adds up to some widespread publicity for local operators and the region.

Participants including lovely ladies from Australian Provincial Newspapers, 4x4 Australia, Style Magazine, Great Australian Doorstep (TV and Radio) Flight Centre Travel Group, Woman's Day & Your Magazines and the Mr and Mrs Romance blog.
