Khandro Rinpoche - the Spiritual Director of Hervey Bay’s not-for-profit Khachodling Dakini Sanctuary – is a Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Master who will be sharing her ancient wisdom during a spiritual meditation and yoga session at Kingfisher Bay Resort next Saturday, February 15.
Rinpoche was born in the Indian Himalyas to a family of great Tibetan yogis. She began her spiritual training as a small child and has studied both Eastern and Western approaches to spiritual psychology.
Designed to relieve the stresses of the modern world, the half-day session at Kingfisher Bay will call upon Khandro Rinpoche’s extensive spiritual knowledge and use Yoga Chi Gung techniques drawn from Classical Yoga, Pilates, Alexander Technique, Yoga, Reiki, Japanese Do-In, Kundalini Yoga, Ayuvedic Medicine and Feldenrkias (awareness through movement) exercises.
Yoga favourites including the ‘Downward Facing Dog’, ‘The Pigeon Pose’, ‘The Bridge’ and ‘Savasana’ will also feature.
According to The Holistic Hub’s Jessica Wemmerslager - herself a student of Khandro Rinpoche and a yoga teacher in her own right - Hervey Bay is extremely lucky to have secured the services of such an accomplished meditation practitioner.
“Khandro Rinpoche runs humanitarian projects as well as retreats and meditation sessions all over the world and has worked for high profile hotel chains such as the five-star Aman resort chain as their Spiritual Advisor,” she said. “Ms Rinpoche developed an affinity for Fraser Island on her last visit to the Fraser Coast and found it to be a very spiritual place – so she was very keen to bring her students to meditate.”
“People looking to experience peace and calm through meditation and yoga should book this session,” Ms Wemmerslager said. “Our body-friendly exercises are suitable for all levels of fitness and ability and will help develop strength, flexibility and balance.”
According to Ms Wemmerslager, students would better be able to connect their body and mind and better connect to the outside world after participating in the meditative process with Khandro Rinpoche.
The half-day resort session includes a private charter with Freedom Whale Watch; a one-and-a-half yoga session followed by a 30 minute break. Khandro Rinpoche will finish the retreat with a meditation session. Guests will then have the chance to experience the resort amenities until the charter boat departs at 1500. Tickets are $100 for day guests ex Hervey Bay and $80 for resort guests (lunch is not included).
