Executive Appointments For Fraser Island Resort

FRASER ISLAND: Kingfisher Bay Resort – incorporating the Mercure Kingfisher Bay Resort Hotel - on World Heritage-listed Fraser Island has announced several executive appointments.

Warwick Kahl, Resort General Manager
WARWICK Kahl (pictured) has joined the Kingfisher Bay Resort team as Resort General Manager and brings a very strong management background in tourism and hospitality, both in Australia and overseas, to the role. Prior to this, Warwick completed a four-year stint at the Port of Brisbane Authority where he oversaw the restructure of hospitality operations and the privatisation of significant commercial assets.

Paul Parrant, Rooms Division Manager
Paul has extensive front office, rooms and food and beverage experience and has held senior management roles in a number of properties in NZ, the UK and Australia, including Food and Beverage Manager at the Novotel Atrium Darwin.

Kenneth Clapham, Executive Chef
Executive Chef, Kenneth Clapham has extensive experience, at Executive Chef level, in a variety of resort environments including RACV (Resort) Inverloch; Heron Island Resort; and at O’Reilly's Rainforest Guest House - Tamborine Mountain.

Kenneth joins the KBR team after spending the last two-and-a-half years as Executive Chef at Eco Beach Wilderness Retreat in Broome, West Australia, and is currently working with the kitchen team to enhance the menu offerings at the resort at a time when both Centre Complex restaurants have undergone the designer’s knife to enhance guest experiences and maximize space.

Laurel Zhang, Sales Manager – Asia
In this newly-created sales role, Laurel will be responsible for growing business for the Kingfisher Bay Resort Group in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and South-East Asia. Laurel joins the Fraser Island team fresh from a similar role with Quicksilver Connections in Cairns – where she was responsible for setting up the Cairns Integrated Chinese Branding Group (CICBG) which organised group marketing events in China. Laurel is proficient in Cantonese, Mandarin and English.

Bianca Bear, Business Development (Corporate)
Bianca Bear, former Director of Sales and Marketing at the Hyatt Regency Coolum, joins Leonie Belbin and Stacey Pawluk in the Kingfisher Conferencing Sales team. Bianca brings more than 16 years’ experience in sales, marketing and business development - working with corporate, government and leisure markets – to the newly-created Business Development role.
