FRASER ISLAND, QUEENSLAND: Cast off your post-Christmas blues and start 2011 in the pursuit a healthier lifestyle.
Sydney-based Skye LifeStyle will host the inaugural Kingfisher Bay Resort Yoga Retreat at the award winning eco resort, on Fraser Island's western side, from 18 - 20 February 2011.
Tailored to all levels - from beginner yoga students to advanced practitioners - the wellness getaway includes two nights' accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, ferry transfers and a mix of four Hatha and power yoga classes and two meditation classes.
As yoga is performed on an empty stomach, each day will start with a moderate power yoga class in pristine wilderness, followed by a healthy breakfast to kick start the day.
Summer days on Fraser can be spent taking advantage of the resort's eco activities and facilities, having a leisurely massage or relaxing before the afternoon's yoga and early evening meditation sessions.
Skye LifeStyle's principal instructor Skye Baird said the Kingfisher Bay's spectacular natural setting perfectly complemented the Hatha yoga program on offer.
"Hatha yoga is believed to have incredible benefits for the body including increased flexibility, detoxification, boosted energy and healthier sleep patterns."
"Add the breathtaking beauty of World-Heritage-listed Fraser Island with the eco-ethos of the resort and we've packaged a retreat guaranteed to kick start any new year's resolutions for a better life/work balance for 2011."
Skye LifeStyle specialises in a unique style of Hatha/flow Vinyasa yoga and Skye's meditation techniques including candle gazing and rainforest meditation – again perfectly suited to Fraser Island's natural surrounds!
Editor Note: Yoga Instructor Skye Baird completed her Yoga Alliance Accreditation in Santa Monica, California and has trained in the latest Hatha yoga techniques. Skye has studied more than 60 asanas (postures) in Hatha yoga, along with meditation, philosophy, anatomy and sequencing designed to promote flexibility and vitality.
