KINGFISHER Bay Resort has been awarded 'Green Tourism Leader' status by Eco Tourism Australia, in recognition of our commitment to environmental tourism in Australia.  Eco Tourism Australia - the peak, national body for green tourism operators - began recognising certified operators some two years ago and has accredited just 60 operators Australia-wide.

Our resort and touring products are eco-certified at the highest level and we have Advanced Ecotourism certification, which recognises our commitment to socially sustainable practices.

In awarding the accreditation, Eco Tourism Australia said Green Tourism Leaders were "trailblazers in responsible travel having been ECO certified for ten years or more.  Long before most people were thinking about 'green' issues, these businesses saw the importance of the environment to tourism and wanted to ensure they behaved in a responsible, ethical and sustainable way."

Kingfisher's Managing Director, Gary Smith, said "We have built our 'name' on our commitment to eco-tourism and are thrilled the natural environment has been recognised by organisations like Eco Tourism Australia and through strategies like the Federal Government's National Long Term Tourism Strategy as a significant part of our appeal as a long-haul holiday destination.  We look forward to introducing new and exciting eco products and activities into our resort experience and to a long and continued partnership with Eco Tourism Australia."

Our Eco Philosophy

We believe in: "Ecologically sustainable tourism that fosters environmental and cultural understanding, appreciation and conservation".
