Pacific Aria, one of the two latest additions to the P&O Cruises fleet, will visit Fraser Island on April 3 and December 12, the first of many visits to the World Heritage-listed island planned over the next two years.
Kingfisher Bay Resort Group General Manager, David Hay, said the partnership with P&O Cruises would deliver increased tourism opportunities across the Fraser Coast.
“Our location between Sydney and the Great Barrier Reef makes Fraser Island the perfect port of call for visitors from across Australia and around the world,” Mr Hay said.
“The cruise market has grown significantly in recent years and we welcome this exciting opportunity to attract more visitors to the entire Fraser Coast region.”
The first two Fraser Island cruises will be on the 1400-passenger Pacific Aria on a round trip from Brisbane in April and a round trip from Sydney in December.
“Visitors can four-wheel drive down beautiful 75 Mile Beach, take a tour through the pristine rainforests and meet some of the island’s wildlife, swim in crystal clear creeks or take a dip in world-famous Lake McKenzie,” Mr Hay said.
“From bush-tucker dining to water sports and day tours we have some incredible products and experiences to offer our domestic and international visitors and it is pleasing to see this potential being recognised by major companies like P&O Cruises. “
