February 19 marks the start of the lunar New Year for 1.357 billion Chinese worldwide and Kingfisher Bay Resort is set to mark the occasion on the world’s largest sand island.

On Chinese New Year's Eve (18 Feb) and the first night of Chinese New Year (19 Feb), as per Asian tradition, Chinese in-house tour groups will gather for a big family dinner – akin to an Aussie Xmas lunch – with Executive Chef, Michael McCalman, serving a special themed menu.

Asian Sales Manager, Laurel Zhang, said China continued its dominance of inbound international visitation and the resort had been working hard to promote Fraser Island and the Fraser Coast tourism and nature-based experiences in-market.

“This year, we’re pleased to welcome group series business for the Year of the Sheep and will mark the occasion by presenting our Chinese guests with a red envelope with a gift inside.” she said. “This is a traditional gift given during Chinese New Year to wish them good luck for the year.”
