| Check the Resort’s weekly What’s On Guide and choose the walk/talk that appeals most: • Bush Tucker and Bush Medicines • Aboriginal Culture • Fraser Island’s European History • Dingo Talk • Mangroves • Astronomy • The flora and fauna of Fraser Island • A back-of-house inspection into the inner workings of an eco-resort, a tour of the sewage-treatment plant (we call it our poo farm), worm farm, herb garden and native-foods garden.
EARLY MORNING BIRD WALK
Wake to birdsong and the energetic antics of Welcome Swallows on this early morning walk. Under the watchful eyes of your Ranger, you’ll spot some of the 354 bird species that frequent the island.
Honeyeaters join forces with Eastern Whip Birds, Rainbow Bee-eaters and the brilliant Azure, Forest and Sacred Kingfishers for an early morning chorus and you’re in the box seat. Binoculars are supplied.
NIGHT SPOTLIGHTING
As darkness falls, Fraser Island’s nocturnal natives come out to play under the starry sky. On this Ranger-guided night walk you’ll turn the spotlight on rare acid frogs and insectivorous bats as they go about their nightly business around the resort’s lakes. Spot Sugar Gliders as they trapeze their way through the trees and identify the animals behind the rustles in the wallum. |
