OCTOBER : JOIN ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE FOR OCTOBER - GRAHAM W SMITH
With an art career spanning 40 years creating over 2150 paintings, Graham has won over 141 first prizes in all mediums including 55 major acquisitive awards - and is bringing his unique skills to Kingfisher Bay during October.  Workshop places are limited, so please book at reception to avoid disappointment.

In 2004 Graham became a Master Pastellist with The Pastel Society of Australia and in 2005 received a scholarship from the Pastel Society of America.

GrahamSmith

Graham has conducted more than 100 workshops in all mediums in Queensland, N.S.W., S.A. & W.A. and Tasmania.  As a practising artist in oils, watercolours, acrylics, mixed media and pastels.

In 2008 Graham was selected as a demonstrating artist for a 30 minute regular art segment currently showing on QCTV.  In March 2009 Graham commenced a twice weekly radio segment for 2 minutes called 'Art Tips' on Bay FM 100.3 which would be the first time an Australian artist has featured on two major media outlets.

Marine ecologist Richard Coward’s incredible passion for the marine environment is equalled by his passion to educate and inspire people to care for the ocean and its inhabitants.

Richard Coward

With extensive experience managing exhibits in aquariums around the world, the Ocean Life Education lecturer has also worked with sharks, seals, penguins, turtles, sea jellies, fish, octopus and invertebrates,

During his extensive career the father-of-three has been involved in research programs including buoyancy syndrome turtle research, shark research and breeding programs as well as whale rescues and is a regular guest on Channel Ten’s Totally Wild.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 








 


SEPTEMBER 09: GUEST PRESENTER LUKE LEUNG
Luke Leung is a wildlife biologist, trained and studied at the University of Queensland achieving his Bachelor degree and then PhD thesis on the ecology of small rainforest mammals in Iron Range, Cape York.

In 2000 he joined the University of Queensland, teaching and researching wildlife biology. A major part of his studies included the ecology of dingoes on Fraser Island with PhD student Nick Baker from 2001 to 2004.

Luke Leung

Luke’s current research projects include the ecology and eradication of introduced rodents on off-shore islands for biodiversity conservation; development of more humane methods for evicting brush-tail possums from roof spaces in Brisbane; and developing feral pig bait in Daintree rainforests.

Luke will be giving presentations on Dingo population and ecology, as well as giving an interesting talk on marsupials and reptiles in the Simpson Desert.
